Normally, I do not write nor comment about personal life occurrences, but I felt compelled to compose a few sentences about my little budgie buddy, Sky, who recently passed away.
She was with me on my last day of high school, my college years and the first leg of my professional life. A bundle-full of energy, who accompanied me while I toiled in front of this screen, as she mimicked the movements of my fingers, in a game that she was intent to win. She muted my chords and offset my strumming, as she traversed the neck of the guitar in playful rhythm with my fingers. After long days of toil, she welcomed me with eager chirps and soothed my stress with her soft songs of lull. An avid connoisseur of leafy greens, soft corn and rice, she insisted to sample my plate and meticulously select the best specimens to satisfy her gluttonous mischief. So insignificant in size, yet a prominent presence in my life for almost a decade. Her absence is difficult to bear; however, my grief is soothed by fond reflections of my little Sky and I :)
