Recently, I have been entertaining the thought of producing my own fan-subs of popular Japanese animation. I have acquired all of the necessary tools and media devices to do so, except one minor problem:
"I can't speak Japanese [well].
日本語を「よく」話せません。
Nihongo o [yoku] hanasemasen."
To remedy, I bought a copy of Rosetta Stone Japanese 1 & 2, but this software immediately provoked my brain to shut off its logic center to avert permanent retardification. I hated the childish games and especially the hideous interface, which is not practical for learning a foreign language. I've learned more dialogue from text adventure games with the monitor off. Maybe they could reinvigorate the learning experience with our ol' pal Leisure Suit Larry. The lovable loser embarks on a lascivious, yet humorous, romp around Japan, somehow ending up on Nontoonyt island without a prophylactic, but an acute mastery of an obscure Osakan dialect.
Well, it doesn't seem that I will be mastering Japanese anytime soon, but if anyone wants to help with my fan-sub venture...we've got vacancies everywhere.
